Over the course of six albums, indie folksinger Eliot Bronson has created his own brand of American roots music. He’s an award winner. A road warrior with audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. An internationally-renowned songwriter with a voice that swoons and sweeps, making fans out of everyone from his hometown newspaper, The Baltimore Sun — who championed Bronson from the very start, hailing him as “a folk singing wunderkind” back when he was still playing local coffeeshops — to Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, whose work on 2014’s Eliot Bronson and 2017’s James placed Bronson on the same client roster as heartfelt songwriters like Jason Isbell and Chris Stapleton.

Embraced by the likes of CMT Edge, Country Weekly, Guitar World, Sirius XM’s Outlaw Country, Acoustic Guitar Magazine and more, Paste Magazine called Bronson and his music “an Americana gem” and “a poetic blend of urban coffee house and outskirts-of-town saloon.” Bop n Jazz upped that ante by heralding him as “maybe the best singer/songwriter since Dylan.” Bronson has won such esteemed songwriting awards as first place at Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest and Eddie Owen Presents “Songwriter Shootout,” and he’s been a finalist at Kerrville Folk Festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriting Contest, and New Song Contest Lincoln Center NYC.

About The Artist:

American mezzo Gabrielle Beteag brings a fresh joy and commanding warmth to stages across the United States and beyond. Praised for her “precise, soaring voice” by San Francisco Classical Voice, Beteag’s recent performance in the San Francisco Adler Fellow Showcase was “a peak performance at the opera…a moment of transfiguration.”

Endlessly inspired by the challenges inherent in developing new works, Beteag counts her role creation of Iras in John Adams’ Antony and Cleopatra during San Francisco Opera’s Centennial
Season as a career highlight. Other recent performances at SFO include Mother in The Handmaid’s Tale, Teacher in The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, Stimme von oben in Die Frau ohne Schatten, and an Image of Frida Kahlo in El último sueño de Frida y Diego. Beteag was also recently seen as Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites with Wolf Trap Opera, Gertrude Stein in Tom Cipullo’s After Life with Music of Remembrance, and Anna I in Kurt Weill’s Seven Deadly Sins with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.

A lover of concert work, Beteag has collaborated with ensembles including the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Rosa Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet, and the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, where she sang Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony under Marin Alsop’s baton.

An accomplished competitive singer, Beteag was named a Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (now the Laffont Competition) in 2020. Other industry accolades include prizes from the Gerda Lissner Foundation (Grant Winner, 2025), the Paris Opera Competition (Finalist, Upcoming), the Giulio Gari Foundation (Third Place, 2024), Operalia (Semifinalist, 2023), the Cooper-Bing Competition at Opera Columbus (First Place, 2023), and the Shreveport Opera Mary Jacobs Singer of the Year Competition (Second Place, 2020).

Akpé Motion is a quartet that defies musical boundaries, weaving influences from Africa, Polynesia, the Americas, and beyond into a vibrant sonic tapestry. Their music is rooted in dialogue—between cultures, instruments, and people—creating a sound that is at once deeply personal and universally resonant. Through rhythm, voice, silence, and improvisation, Akpé Motion invites listeners on an inner journey that reflects the joy of exchange, the richness of diversity, and the power of music to connect us all.

Presented by Roswell Arts Fund, Friends of Mimosa Hall and Gardens and Steve's Live Music, the Pop-Up Concert Series brings unforgettable live music to Roswell twice a month, typically on Sundays and Thursdays. Each intimate concert experience includes wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks with your ticket—making it the perfect way to gather, unwind, and discover new sounds at Roswell River Landing.

More about Akpe Motion:

Akpé, an expression from the Togolese language, can be translated as “ Thank you.” Akpé Motion is a group of 4 musicians who share a desire to share, a desire for sonic color, a desire to emancipate themselves from the codes that limit music and thus classify, hierarchize, or even strangle it.....

Akpé Motion is a freedom lived by each individual, but at the service of the dialogue without which group music cannot be born, cannot exist, cannot emancipate itself...

Akpé Motion is a shared vision of the need for dialogue between cultures, whatever they may be! We enjoyed playing with Kanak, Madagascan, African, Polynesian, Qatari, Mexican and American musicians... because the exchange was joyful, fruitful, rich in sounds, shared smiles and the desire to get to know each other better...

Akpé Motion is a shared desire to show that music is part of the cultural universalism that every human being should carry as their standard. Akpé Motion is about sounds and images that we hope will reflect our desire for otherness.

Akpé Motion is the story of each individual expressed by voice, by instrument, by body in different tenses to encourage the listener to enter our inner journey, a journey that sometimes passes from sound to image, from image to sound, without forgetting the silences on which our music also feeds.

Get ready to be swept away by the powerhouse presence of Gwen Hughes, a radiant force in jazz and soul music! With a voice that pulses with passion and a stage energy that electrifies, Gwen transforms every performance into a thrilling celebration of the original American sound. From silky jazz standards to soulful grooves that move the heart and feet, she delivers music that’s as joyous as it is deeply soulful. Gwen’s infectious spirit invites you to sing, sway, and shine—because when she’s on stage, the music and the magic are undeniable. Don’t miss the chance to experience an artist who truly lights up the night!

Music has always been a bridge to the spirit.

This show is a bridge to that part in all of us that seeks something shining,  something positive.

“Jazz of the Soul” showcases the joyful side of jazz and soul music – the original American music that evolved out of the “happy sadness” of the blues.

“What a Wonderful World,” made famous by Louis Armstrong, is one of the most beautiful benedictions there is.  We include it in our performance…as well as other well-known songs of beauty, love and unity: “Beauty in the World,” Macy Gray; “Grandmas Hands,” Bill Withers; “Our Love Is Here to Stay” by Ella Fitzgerald;  “Accentuate the Positive,” Johnny Mercer, among many others (and audience requests).

We also take a fun moment with well- known church hymns like “We Gather Together” and “Risen Today” to show how they can resonate in r&b/jazz settings.

Gwen Hughes sings soul and jazz music: “And I’d love to have you sing along.  We shine brighter together.”

Let’s make some music. Let’s build a bridge.

Keyboard-driven, extraordinary original music, and born in Atlanta, Georgia. Rife with odd musical proclivities, this band takes every left turn it can find, all while interweaving hooks and melodies uncommon in the overall rock genre. And yes – it is rock. And pop. And funk. And borders on flavors of prog metal, at its weirdest.

The band consists of a wily cast of characters. Mark Alden Ross is a wickedly funky songwriter who’s bent on making music with all manner of vintage keyboards. Ken Green adds the twang with his guitar arsenal. Jeff Walker is a hoss on the bass, which he made himself (along with Ken’s guitars). Pierce Tanner holds it all together on the drums, and his background remains shrouded in mystery.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PERFORMANCE WILL TAKE PLACE AT MIMOSA HALL

About The Artist:.

With a voice judges described as “dazzling” and “richly expressive,” soprano Maria Clark performed on the stage of Carnegie Hall as First Prize Winner of the 2008 Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition. “One seldom finds a voice capable of such beauty across a variety of idioms,” said Cosmo Buono, executive director. “A voice this much at home in opera, lieder, and spirituals is very rare. She is truly, both artistically and vocally, a triumph.”

Clark’s career has grown since 2005, when she landed a position with the Atlanta Opera and appeared with the ensemble of Atlanta Opera in its 2005 production of Carmen. She participated in Atlanta Opera and Opera Comique’s 2008 collaborative production of Porgy & Bess, and toured in France, Spain, and Luxembourg performing as the Strawberry Woman. Clark’s impressive rendition of the role earned her the cover of Bess in the Atlanta Opera’s main stage production of Porgy & Bess in 2011.

In 2012, Clark was honored to make her debut with FOSBO-Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica de Bogotá Colombia, and she also performed with the Ludwig and Dekalb symphonies. In 2015, she appeared with the North Carolina Opera as Odessa Clay in Approaching Ali. In 2022, Clark performed the role of Miriam from Nathaniel Dett’s The Ordering of Moses with the New England Repertory Orchestra. She also premiered the soprano solo role in Robert Hooker’s Without Regard to Sex, Race, or Color. Also in spring 2022, Clark collaborated with composer and pianist Maria Thompson Corley to release a CD of contemporary African American spirituals, titled Soul Sanctuary. Additionally, in summer of 2022, Clark performed on the 96-Hour Opera Project produced by Atlanta Opera. In the opera Gone with That Wind by Marcus Norris and Adamma Ibo, Clark gave a winning performance for her role as Vera. For the second season in a row, Maria was part of the winning team for Atlanta Opera’s 96-hour project in the summer of 2023, for her operatic role portrayal of “The Mother of Orphans”, Mrs. Cassie Steele Logan, in Dave Ragland and Selda Sahin’s Steele Roots.

Recent performances in Fall of 2023 included a concert orchestral world premiere of the song cycle, Message for Your Son, written for Maria by acclaimed composer, DJ Sparr. This song cycle was premiered with the Chicago Composers Orchestra. Maria also performed a tour of her Soul Sanctuary cd in Pennsylvania, and was the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Trey Clegg Singers, with whom she is a regular soloist.

Ms. Clark has also been a regular performer for the yearly Diamond Awards at Morehouse College, and is a Master Clinician for vocal workshops and masterclasses for The Art of the African American Spiritual project at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and in the public schools in Oshkosh in Fall of 2024. She has also held general vocal masterclasses and workshops at Northeastern University in Oklahoma, University of North GA, Spelman College, and GA College and State University, and has conducted vocal workshops with various choral organizations across Georgia.

Clark serves as a board member of the Irene Harrower Opera Program at Georgia State University and is a member of NANM (National Association of Negro Musicians). She is also a longtime member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). Maria has served as Coordinator of Applied Lessons and Vocal Studies at Spelman College and is currently an Artist Affiliate for Emory Atlanta University and Emory Oxford College locations. Clark has a BM degree from Manhattan School of Music and a MM degree from Georgia State University.

Roswell Arts Fund, Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens, and Steve's Live Music are pleased to present a performance featuring the Bonaventure Quartet.

The Bonaventure Quartet ‘All Strings’ faithfully recreates the sound and ambience of a French nightclub in Montmarte in the 1930s. Those were the years when the music of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France was at the forefront of European/Continental jazz and the notion of an ‘all string’ swing group was revolutionary. Django was an illiterate, gypsy guitar virtuoso who combined his mastery of European classical and the romantic, passionate music of the Roma with the American swing style as exemplified by Louis Armstrong. The result is a unique acoustic music known as gypsy jazz and is today popular in Europe and increasingly so around the world.

The BVQ ‘All Strings’ formed in Atlanta in 2000 and has been playing concerts, clubs, festivals, and private events around Atlanta and the Southeast ever since. The players are Marla Feeney on violin/clarinet, Charles Williams and Rodrigo Suarez on guitars, and Mike Beshara on upright bass.
